Marine Aquatic Limited (MAL) operates the Malta National Aquarium complex — one of Malta’s premier tourism and entertainment destinations, located in Qawra, St. Paul’s Bay.

A Flagship Tourism & Entertainment Destination

2009

MAL was awarded the tender to design, build, and operate the Malta National Aquarium Complex under a 50-year agreement with the Government of Malta and the Malta Tourism Authority.

2013

The complex opened to the public, featuring 26 aquarium tanks showcasing marine life from the Mediterranean and beyond, alongside the launch of La Nave Bistro and Café del Mar Malta — establishing MAL as a pioneer in integrating education, leisure, and entertainment under one roof.

2022

Following the pandemic, the complex achieved a strong recovery, with EBITDA exceeding €2.8 million, up from €2 million in 2019, demonstrating robust operational resilience and visitor demand.

2024

MAL commenced the refurbishment of La Nave Bistro, introducing a refreshed dining concept including a sushi offering and upgraded interiors to enhance its appeal and visitor experience.

2025

Planned upgrade of Café del Mar Malta, encompassing new décor, furniture, a redesigned DJ booth, and expanded entertainment areas, as the venue prepares to host approximately 80 major events annually with capacity for over 4,000 guests.
